I have been to a few district and local town clerk meetings and have the following to report; there has much said about consolidation of local offices like tax collector, this has been removed from the state budget, the state is still looking at consolidation of assessors position. Our local clerks association met with the Board of Elections and they told us about the new voting machines. One will be used for the disabled this fall and all AVM machines will be disposed of by the County. The new machines will be easier to use, people will have three attempts to vote. The ballot will be rejected if a spot is not voted or if people over vote. It will look like a lottery ticket but bigger. We need 60 parking spots for voters. The DEC will be setting up the new online computer system soon, I will still use there computer, just use the town Road Runner hook up. I was appointed to a committee with area County Officials, Tax Collectors and County Treasurer to explore the use of credit cards for the towns during tax season. Treasurer John Kruk is setting up a meeting with 3 different vendors to review their credit card programs.
